How should I put my curled hair in a ponytail?

i have layered hair longer than shoulder-length, and I have permed straight hair. I want to curl it tomorrow and put it in a cute ponytail, but I don’t know how, because some parts of my hair are shorter than others and because of the curls, and how much of a mess it brings.
