Is there a way to get big curls like the kind you use with a curling iron without heat?

Well, I am trying to grow my hair out so I am using no heat on it, and I want big curls kind of like the kind you get with a curling iron. Is there a way I could achieve this? I am out of heat protector so I can’t use that…
