What sort of (human) hair extensions are the best, and how much do they cost?

I want extensions to make my hair thicker more than anything, as it’s really thin. My friend has clip-ins, but I think clips like that all day would probably piss me off.. But, I heard that glue in ones get ratty really quickly.. Anyone with hair extension experience care to give me advice?
